Trader Vic's

The famous Polynesian-themed restaurant, Trader Vic’s located at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort and Spa. The restaurant offers agurably one of best international Sunday Brunch in town. The price is pinned at 1,799B++(Including coacktails and renowned signature Maitai) and 2,199B++ (including wine and sparkling wine).

We got to the restaurant early and had time to take a tour. The place is decorated with unique Polynesian-theme. As the place is by riverside, indoor seat were allowed to appriciate a great view of Chaopraya river.

The food is prepared in very wide range from Asain to European with decent quality ingredients. The chioces are way too many that I think it’s impossible any individual would be able to taste every dish in the restaurant in single visit.

Cold Cut and Terrine came with many options. Duck/Salmon, Terrine, Parma Ham, Salami, Beef/Salmon carpaccio. Also Tuna/Salmon tartare.

Japanese cuisine can be found in many coner starting from the sushi bar from Benihana. Sashimi and Roll sushi are available in wide range.

Also there is Teppanyaki station for grilled dished lover.

Seafood on ice were in great qualities with premuim choice ex: fine de cliare oyster, Lobster, Alaska King Crab, Caviar, Salmon Egg Roe, etc.

Decent Oyster came with choices of seasoning.

Thai food like Fried fish in sweet&sour sauce, Grilled prok collar or Spicy salad are available also.

Mediterranean dishes.

Pasta cooking Station.

Charcoal grilled food station. Seafood, Beef tanderloin and Homemade Sausage.

Chinese corner offer roast duck with sweet sauce and various Dimsum.

Meat carving station. Baked fish. Roasted beef and Lamb leg were cooked medium rare.

To accompany meat dish from meat station, sauteed mushroom and vagetable are available.

This station cook foie gras only. The size was gigantic and was in nice quality.

Skewer station. All kind of meat are marinated and grilled with charcoal.

The drink are available inwdie range already with 1,799B++. Of course, Maitai, their original cocktail is available. Also sangria and others.

These were combinations of sorbet and liquor. Ex: Cola soebet with Jim Beam whisky. Toramisu sorbet with Sambuca. Orange Sorbet with Campari. And may more.

Last but not least, Dessert. Dessert alone were in wide range that I didn’t where to begin.

Tropical fruits with premium stuff like peach and fresh berries.

Cake, pies and Ice Cream.

I began my meal with cold cuts. Cold cuts, Seafood on ice are all in good qualities. Terrine were smooth and finely prepraed.

We had decent Japanese treat from Benihana. Sashimi was in nice quality.

The tenderloin beef from Teppanyaki Station was heavenly tender and aromatic. I had a few plates of this.

Here come another star of the meal. Thick cut sauteed Foie Gras. It’s as large as a halfed pear. And the thickness was nearly 1 inch.

The Foie Gras was cooked perfectly crispy outside and medium-rare inside. The best Foie Gras from any Buffet ever.

Crispy duck’s skin isn’t  as crispy as common one from Chinese Restaurant. The good thing is that this came with roasted duck meat also. Not skin only.

Lobster bisque was in average quality. I prefer a little bit thicker one.

Pasta were too good to be a dish in buffet line.

Meal won’t complete without dessert. I also had a plate of peach, my favourite fruit.

With a nice cup of coffee, I finally end my long and big meal at Trader Vic’s.

In both aspect of variety and quality of food, this is one of the most worthwhile buffet in Bangkok. The variety of food is so plenty that I felt like I did some bar hopping all afternoon. The word one of the best Sunday Brunch in Bangkok is nothing but a truthful fact indeed.
