How much a meal prepared by the famous Iron
Chef could cost? No such absolute answer to this question, I
guess. It depends on so many factors. What kind of food you
order, How big your stomach can be or What kind of restaurant
you stepped in to.
Soon that I realized, at a curtain restaurant, The Market @Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, my guessing was proven wrong.
One of the Iron Chef Thailand, Chef Chumpol has joined the hotel as the person in charge behind Thai Cuisine of the entire Anantara group. And the dishes created by Iron Chef himself are also available in Buffet.
The offer is pinned at 1400B++ (No Alcohol.) and 1800B++ (Including beer and wine). The Market serves 100 menu of tradditional and
modern Thai food arranged by The Iron Chef of Thai Cuisine, Chef Chumpol.
Along with buffet lovers' most favourtie choice such as; Fresh Oyster
and Alaska King Crab. Also grilled seafood from the hot station was packed
with big prawn, squid ans oyster.
Tradditoinal treats like Thai style grilled
beef or spiced pork sausage are upgraded to premuim version. Charcoal
broiled beef is made by Wagyu Beef. And spiced pork sausage are prepared
by Kurobuta.
One thing I found impressive about this buffet
is that it's not being too premium-stuff-oriented. Good old peasant treats, my
favourite, are not forgortten. The restaurant gives a
fancy touch to peasant food like tradditional Thai chilles paste or
Curry.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted a rare shirmp chilles paste called
Seangwa or tradditional Northern Thai curry called Kengboon in the buffet line.
And again these were made by finest qualities of ingredients.
Audiences of Iron Chef cooking showdown surely
wish they could have taste thoes dishes the Iron Chef cooked in the show. And
at The Market, this is the place where the dream comes true. The restaurant
serves those dishes the chef created in the battle Chef Chumpol won. This
is the most significant meaning of having the Iron Chef himself behind the
kitchen.
There was 2 dishes of them on the day of my visit. The first oneThai Anchivy in white sauce topped with cheese, baked. Anchovy’s flavor was not too strong. It only add some zest in to the creamy white sauce.
And the other one was Tomyam Prawn Bisque
soup. Rich Bisque soup is season with refrshing Thai herb;
Lemonglass and Leech Lime. A refined dish with Thai heritage indeed.
Savoury alone is more than worthwhile paying
the bill already, frankly speaking I didn't expect much from dessert. Yet,
again I was wrong. The dessert line was HUGE and wide in variety that I didn't
know where to begin. Both Thai and Western dessert were plentiful accompanied
with fresh fruits.
As expected from a Thai restarant, Sticky Rice
with Mango was there. Unexpected, the mango is freshly peeled right before our
eyes. Also the other fruits were freshly peel. This is a big effort that help
improving the quality greatly.
It was another amazing dining experience with
the view of Chapraya River side panorama. With attentive and friendly service,
our 3 hours long Sunday Brunch were considerable too short. That should express
well how much we enjoyed the meal.
